Shape-Shifting

Shape-shifting is a popular theme in mythology, folklore and science fiction and refers to the changing of a person from one physical shape to another. While it has been commonly referred to in books and more recently, in conspiracy theories featuring human reptiles, no documented proof has been made of anyone that have truly demonstrated the ability.

In literature, shape-shifting has been featured many times including such notables as:

  • Werewolves, where humans turn into a wolf-creature
  • Vampires who can turn into bats such as Count Dracula
  • Accounts of witches who can turn into cats and other creatures
  • Fairy tales where the characters can turn into animals like The Frog Prince
  • Greek Gods transforming their physical bodies to that of other gods such as Zeus shifting into Artemis

In real life, there are some animals that can shift into different shapes as a defense mechanism against predators, most notably the Mimic Octopus in the Australian coasts.

Some parapsychologists believe that extreme psychokinetic abilities can potentially enable shapeshifting by altering molecular composition of bodies.
