What is Psychokinesis?

Psychokinesis is the ability to affect material objects through extrasensory means without any noticable physical action. It is also often referred to as telekinesis. Other terms used to describe psychokinesis are “remote influencing” “distant influencing”, “remote mental influence”, “distant mental influence”, “directed conscious intention”, and “mind over matter.”

Recently, many laboratory tests have been done on psychokinetic abilities detailing two types of measurable and observable results, namely:

• Micro-PK - a small psychokinetic effect, often at a molecular or sub-atomic level, invisible to the naked eye and measured only by laboratory equipment.
• Macro-PK - a large psychokietic effect, easily visible to the naked eye, such as moving tables or generating electric sparks using only extrasensory means.

One notable subject of psychokinetic experiments was the artist and psychic Ingo Swann who could change the temperature of objects close to him by at least one degree as well as affect the magnetic field of a magnetometer.

Several demonstrations of the ability have been done in the past, although their authenticity are highly disputed. Notable performances have been made by Uri Geller, an Israeli-British performer who claimed to use psychic powers to bend spoons and stop and accelerate clocks and watches.

Although the results of psychokinetic experiments have been disputed by many scientists, many parapsychologists believe that enough well-controlled experiments have established its existence and later developments will prove it to be conclusively real.
